7th Wave ///
a site-specific sculpture created in a week long residency granted by the
Ruach Yam Artist Colony, Bat Yam (2012).
In collaboration with
Shron Gabay and Yaeli Greenblatt.
It is told that the movement of ocean waves is in repeating sets of 7 causing every 7thwave to be higher.
The piece explored possibilities of using this higher wave to drive a kinetic sculpture that moved with the ebb and flow of the water. A structure of a wooden V translated the wave’s energy into the two ends. Built on a public beach, the sculpture made contact not only with the forces of the sea, but also with the curious dwellers of Bat-Yam.
