7th Wave ///
a site-specific sculpture created in a week long residency granted by the Ruach Yam Artist Colony
, Bat Yam (2012).
In collaboration with Shron Gabay
and Yaeli Greenblatt.
It is told that the movement of ocean waves is in repeating sets of 7 causing every 7thwave to be higher.
The piece explored possibilities of using this higher wave to drive a kinetic sculpture that moved with the ebb and flow of the water. A structure of a wooden V translated the wave’s energy into the two ends. Built on a public beach, the sculpture made contact not only with the forces of the sea, but also with the curious dwellers of Bat-Yam.
